Ok so short story before I get to the point. My sister works as a baker at a bakery (go figure) and was given a present by the owner of said bakery. The object is clearly an antique and my sister doesn't know what it is. Neither does the owner of the bakery. So I'm going to show pictures of the object in question...
Please tell me if you know what it is! Thanks.

As requested I took a picture of the whole thing next to a measuring tape. Sorry I'm such a horrible photographer! I hope the picture is clear for everyone. :)
I haven't the foggiest, I'm afraid! I do hope you find out though!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too... hmm. I hope someone knows. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Resa,
ReplyDeleteI sent the picitures to a friend of mine whose father once ran a bakery long go I'll see what she thinks.
But I showed the pictures to my husband and he thinks it is a tool you would run along the dough to make uniform pieces for "longjohns" (are you familiar with that term?) They were jelly filled rolls in exactly the same shape as the tool holes. I agree this could be it. I'll let you know if my friend has additional input!
Have a good day!
Coralie
You should have photgraphed the entire tool straight on and next to a ruler so we get an idea of scale and what it really looks like.
ReplyDeleteWill do. I'll post those pictures in just a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cookie cutter like thing for pastry! You roll it over dough.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Nancy! Looks like it'd make long cookies, like madeleines or lady fingers.
ReplyDeleteI asked my sister about lady fingers and she said they are piped out, you don't cut them. I've never heard of madeleines. I'll look them up!
ReplyDeleteAgree, this is a rolling cutter of some kind. For finger cookies? Madeleines are small batter cakes baked in a mold. Yummmm - buttery!
ReplyDeleteGreatoldthings, since you like old interesting things so much, may I offer another tip: use a solid, light colored background when photographing objects. It really helps with puzzling old tools.
